    Hi Tom

Here are a few additional thoughts on the analogy you presented.

Movement in the higher zones is not possible unless a person faces the fact that he is in the lower zones. The mind's capacity for deception is so incredible that it seems almost unbelievable. Psychic sleep has a very peculiar way of preventing a person from seeing that which is right in front of him. The person who dwells in the red zone thinks that he possesses a separate self that dwells in the green and blue zones. Unless he becomes willing to bear the shock of seeing through this infantile fantasy, he will continue to live in the red zone and suffer from the consequenses.

So how does a person find out where he is really living inwardly? The extent to which a person thinks he possesses a self that is separate from others and the rest of life as he goes about his daily life of interacting with others and dealing with changing circumstances is the exact extent to which he is occupying the red zone. Remembering this fact serves as a key princple for uncovering more and more layers of self-deception.

A person's inner work is really all about seeing his inner state as it actually is without saying "I" to it. If a person becomes willing to do this, then movement to higher zones happens all by itself. The sleeping mind interprets movement to higher zones as some sort of competition between separate selves. It is nothing like that. Moving up into the zones comes as a result of going through the shocks of facing the complete nothingness of the glorious separate self a person is convinced he is. The fact is, the higher zones are readily available but nobody really wants them. To begin to uncover this resistance as it applies to a person's very own psychology is the only way to invite actual movement to a higher inner world.

This was a very revelant podcast for me, Tom and very opportune. Trying to stay in the green and blue zones can and has sent me back to the lower on a few occassions so what a keeper!

It's definitely going in my notebook.

As I listen to this again and again I am enjoy all the connections! I especially like the insight that the "red zones" don't taste good anymore. I can almost recongize the tone in the voice of a red zoner in my head. When I hear it I know not to humour it...so many great points!

Wonderful Jijo. That's the beauty of this concept -- it draws more and more insights.  Be sure to check out the newly posted article on "The Four Zones."  We'll be doing the Saturday, August 7th webcast on this topic. (Tom)

Wonderful talk! Clear and so helpful - I loved it :-) Thank you so much.

Tom, the link you gave (to http://www.superwisdom.com/news/) resolves now to an empty page. Do you have a current link to the "The Four Zones" article? I'd love to read it.

Finally, I'd like to share an odd experience. One of the _unnatural_ ways of shifting between zones: sometimes when in a "higher" zone, I find the mind butting in, saying something to the effect of "oh, this is so easy - I can get back here anytime I like - so let's take a break and indulge a fantasy - like how about regret, or anxiety?". Straight back into the depths of the Red Zone then.

But the last time this happened, out of nowhere a quiet but clear inner voice said "thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God". I think I could write a book about what it _meant_ in this context, but suffice it to say it was exactly on target, and stopped the artificial descent back to the Red Zone cold in its tracks.

An odd thing is that I don't recall seeing that phrase anywhere since I read it once in the Bible as a child Delightful :-)
