What is more important, playing the role well and winning the appluase of the audience or living from the original nature within?
If playing the role is caught up with self-love, with trying to confirm a sense of possessing a separate self that is solid, secure, safe, and real, then there is betrayal of the essential self within.
A person can remain detached from a role while playing it only if this detached state is taken as being more important than the rewards derived from playing the role. But who is really willing to do this?

Detachment is knowing there is a place closer to that Great Entity but i don't always remember this truth. I take the unreal which is 'my false self' or 'me' to be that. Always asking for 'me' to be acknowledged and resisting when i don't receive. Then instead of being patient i jump in and try my level best to force the achievement of that which is denied me and wonder what is wrong? Having beaten my head against the wall time after time i still refuse to listen and wonder when the understanding will come - and sometimes i know it will come and at other times i despair. This is what i have. Belief and unbelief. Truly i am weak and i acknowledge that and i release what i am attaching to. Then i thank that which is the Creator for helping me to understand because i am trying to know the way home.

Mahjabeen, thank you for your comment. We can all relate to what you write here. I remember one of Vernon Howard's comments that applies, something to the effect that the truth may only seem to be 1% of you presently, but that 1% is 100% pure, and 100% connected to the entire Universe. The 1% grows to 2%, then 3% and so on. It KNOWS how to unfold, and difficult circumstances (inner and outer) provide high quality food for its unfolding. (Tom)
